The premise

When a young couple trades New York City for a sprawling Hudson Valley farmhouse in the 1980s, the wife begins to sense that something deeply wrong lingers within the walls — and within her husband. As unsettling visions and strange occurrences mount, she must reckon with the possibility that the darkness around her is both supernatural and all too human. Steeped in period atmosphere and anchored by a compelling lead performance from Amanda Seyfried, the film builds a suffocating portrait of a woman whose instincts are sharper than those around her will admit.
