The premise
Stuck in a dead end town, young James kills time with his druggie friends, engaging in debauched chemical intake to the point of unconsciousness, until he meets Sara, a sweet new arrival to their group. However, Sara wants James to take her further into the world of narcotics experimentation (just as James was contemplating abandoning this lifestyle), and she also wants him to introduce her to the sinister local legend of Toad Road, a spot deep in the forest that is apparently home to the Seven Gates of Hell.

In a nowhere town where days bleed into nights of substance abuse, James drifts through a haze of excess until a captivating newcomer named Sara pulls him deeper into territory he was ready to leave behind. She carries an obsession with a local myth — the Seven Gates of Hell, said to lie somewhere in the surrounding forest — and she wants James to take her there. What begins as a grimy portrait of dead-end youth gradually darkens into something far more sinister, blurring the line between drug-induced hallucination and genuine supernatural dread. Toad Road earns its unease slowly, letting the mundane rot of its world make the horror feel disturbingly plausible.
