The premise
Six people are lured into a small Deep South town for a Centennial celebration where the residents kill them one by one as revenge for the town's destruction during the Civil War.

When a group of Northern travellers are cheerfully diverted into the small Southern town of Pleasant Valley, they find themselves unwilling guests of honour at a raucous Centennial celebration. Beneath the banjos and backslapping hospitality, something deeply wrong festers in this tight-knit community. Director Herschell Gordon Lewis delivers sun-drenched Grand Guignol mayhem that delights in its own outrageous excess. What begins as a roadside detour quickly reveals itself as a nightmare with deep, blood-soaked historical roots.
