The premise
Yorkshire, 1974, the Maynard family moves into their dream house. It's a dream that quickly descends into a panic stricken nightmare as the family discovers a horrifying truth, a truth that will make the history books. The house is already occupied by the most violent poltergeist ever documented, a poltergeist that will tear you from your bed as you sleep and drag you helplessly into the darkness.
Horror Vault's take
Set against the grim backdrop of 1970s Yorkshire, a working-class family's fresh start in a new home is shattered when something already residing within the walls makes itself violently known. Drawing on a reportedly real British poltergeist case, the film builds suffocating dread as the disturbances escalate beyond anything the family — or the authorities — are equipped to handle. The period setting lends an authentic, grounded texture that makes the supernatural menace feel all the more inescapable.
