The premise
A man who specializes in debunking paranormal occurrences checks into the fabled room 1408 in the Dolphin Hotel. Soon after settling in, he confronts genuine terror.

Mike Enslin has built a career out of exposing haunted hotels and cursed locations as frauds — until he checks into Room 1408 at New York's Dolphin Hotel. Despite stern warnings from the hotel's manager, Enslin insists on spending the night, armed with his cynicism and a tape recorder. What unfolds inside those four walls is unlike anything his skeptical mind has ever encountered. Adapted from a Stephen King short story, this is a masterclass in confined, escalating dread.
