The premise
When Sarah lucks into a sweet one-bedroom at Asilo Del Mar Apartments in Los Angeles, she thinks she's hit the jackpot. It's got plenty of space, friendly tenants, group BBQs and even a cute neighbour next door. All is not what it seems: loud noises start keeping her awake at night; her cat is missing; everyone seems to be a little too helpful and friendly, except for the weirdo, Lester. Soon, Sarah learns she didn't choose this apartment — it chose her.

When Sarah lands what looks like her dream apartment in Los Angeles, the suspiciously warm community of Asilo Del Mar quickly begins to feel less like good fortune and more like a carefully laid trap. Strange noises, a missing cat, and neighbours who are just a little too eager to help plant the first seeds of dread. What unfolds is a suffocating descent into the mechanics of coercion and control, as Sarah realises the walls around her are closing in — figuratively and literally. 1BR is a slow-burn thriller that uses the mundane architecture of apartment living to explore how manipulation can masquerade as belonging.
