The premise
A memory-wiped and defective cyborg sex slave is tossed onto the streets and taken in by a homeless woman while his corporate creators hunt him down.
Horror Vault's take
From the Japanese cyberpunk underground comes a relentlessly assaulting vision of a discarded cyborg — stripped of memory and purpose — stumbling through a hostile city after being cast out by the corporation that built him as a sex slave. A homeless woman takes him in, offering a fragile thread of humanity, but his creators are not finished with him. Director Shozin Fukui crafts an experience closer to a sensory attack than a conventional narrative, drenching its lo-fi aesthetic in raw anguish and practical body horror. Fans of extreme transgressive cinema will find 964 Pinocchio occupying a singular and deeply uncomfortable corner of the genre.
