The premise
Celebrated sleuth Hercule Poirot, now retired and living in self-imposed exile in Venice, reluctantly attends a Halloween séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.

Kenneth Branagh's Hercule Poirot has traded his casebook for quiet exile among the canals of Venice — until a Halloween séance inside a crumbling, shadow-drenched palazzo drags him back into the fray. What begins as reluctant curiosity curdles into something far darker when death arrives among the assembled guests, and the line between rational explanation and genuine supernatural terror starts to blur. Branagh leans into gothic atmosphere and psychological unease, giving this Agatha Christie adaptation a distinctly spookier edge than its predecessors. Decaying grandeur, flickering candlelight, and whispered secrets make this whodunit feel closer to a ghost story than a drawing-room mystery.
