The premise

Dr. David Marrow invites three distinct individuals to the eerie and isolated Hill House to be subjects for a sleep disorder study. The unfortunate guests discover that Marrow is far more interested in the sinister mansion itself — and they soon see the true nature of its horror.

Horror Vault's take

When a researcher recruits three strangers for what appears to be a clinical sleep study at the sprawling, ornate Hill House, the guests quickly sense that their host's true agenda has little to do with science. The mansion itself seems alive with malevolent history, its gothic architecture concealing dark secrets that grow harder to ignore with each passing night. Based on Shirley Jackson's celebrated novel, this big-budget adaptation leans into visual spectacle, pitting ordinary people against an extraordinary and deeply unsettling house.
