The premise
Two friends' tour of Europe takes a dark turn when one of them contracts a mysterious illness. They race to find out what it is and how to cure it before the sickness consumes him completely.

What starts as a couple of best friends documenting a carefree European adventure quickly spirals into a harrowing nightmare when one of them begins showing alarming, inexplicable symptoms. Shot in a grounded pseudo-documentary style, the film weaponises the found footage format to place viewers uncomfortably close to a body that is rapidly and terrifyingly changing. The two leads — who also write and direct — bring raw authenticity to a story about loyalty tested to its absolute breaking point. Afflicted is a lean, visceral take on familiar mythology that earns genuine dread through practical stakes rather than cheap scares.
