The premise
A Chicago artist's sanity starts to unravel, unleashing a terrifying wave of violence when he begins to explore the macabre history of the Candyman.

Decades after the legend first terrorized Chicago's Cabrini-Green housing projects, a visual artist moves into the now-gentrified neighborhood and becomes dangerously fixated on unearthing the myth that still haunts its streets. His research awakens something that refuses to stay buried, and the line between artistic obsession and supernatural possession begins to blur in deeply unsettling ways. Director Nia DaCosta and producer Jordan Peele reimagine the Candyman mythos as a searing meditation on Black pain, memory, and the violence that hides beneath polished cityscapes.
