The premise
Francesco Dellamorte is the groundskeeper at a cemetery where the dead just won’t stay dead—and it’s up to him to deal with those who come back to life with a hunger for human flesh. But Dellamorte’s job soon becomes much more complicated when he falls for an enigmatic young woman whose husband has recently died.
Horror Vault's take
Francesco Dellamorte has the thankless job of managing a cemetery where the recently buried have an inconvenient habit of rising again — a problem he dispatches with weary, almost bureaucratic efficiency. His monotonous routine is shattered when a captivating widow enters his world, tangling violence and desire into something far stranger than a simple zombie story. Part black comedy, part fever dream, Cemetery Man is one of Italian horror's most philosophically audacious entries, as concerned with the living as it is with the undead. Rupert Everett anchors the film with sardonic charisma, guiding viewers through a landscape where the line between sanity and madness grows increasingly difficult to locate.
