The premise

Looking for work, Aaron comes across a cryptic online ad: “$1,000 for the day. Filming service. Discretion is appreciated.” Low on cash and full of naiveté, he decides to go for it. He drives to a cabin in a remote mountain town where he meets Josef, his cinematic subject for the day. Josef is sincere and the project seems heartfelt, so Aaron begins to film. But as the day goes on, it becomes clear that Josef is not who he says, and his intentions are not at all pure.

Horror Vault's take

When cash-strapped videographer Aaron answers a vague online ad offering easy money for a day's filming, he finds himself alone in a remote mountain cabin with a man whose odd behaviour escalates from quirky to genuinely alarming. Shot entirely from Aaron's camera, the film weaponises intimacy itself — the closer Josef seems to get, the more danger feels inevitable. Director and co-star Patrick Brice keeps the dread simmering through awkward silences and wrong-note charm rather than conventional scares. What starts as a simple job slowly reveals itself as something far more sinister.
