The premise

Greta is a beautiful young woman abused by her brother Franz and left to die in childbirth by her illicit lover, the aristocrat Dr. von Ravensbrück. Bereft with grief, Franz reanimates his dead sister using a formula engraved on an ancient Incan medallion. Greta then returns as an undead avenging angel, reaping revenge on the Ravensbrück family and her manically possessive brother.

Horror Vault's take

Set against a crumbling aristocratic backdrop, this 1973 Italian Gothic horror follows a wronged young woman whose tragic fate sets in motion a supernatural spiral of vengeance. Ancient Incan dark arts blur the line between life and death, dragging the guilty into a waking nightmare they cannot escape. With Klaus Kinski lending his trademark intensity to the proceedings, the film revels in lush, decadent imagery and escalating macabre set pieces. It is equal parts Gothic melodrama and visceral Euro-horror, steeped in the lurid style that defined the era.
