When a string of full-moon murders grips New York City, a brilliant but morally ambiguous research scientist races to identify the killer from within his own shadowy circle — before the body count climbs higher. A quick-witted reporter refuses to stay out of the investigation, injecting equal parts comic relief and danger into the grim proceedings. Shot in a rare two-strip Technicolor process, the film crackles with Pre-Code boldness and expressionistic atmosphere straight out of a Universal nightmare.
