The premise
In Victorian England, graverobbers supply a wealthy doctor with bodies to research anatomy on, but greed causes them to seek an easier means of getting the job done.

In the fog-choked streets of Victorian Edinburgh, a brilliant and ruthless anatomist pays handsomely for fresh cadavers — no questions asked. His suppliers, two cunning lowlifes from the city's underclass, soon discover that acquiring bodies needn't wait for nature to take its course. Based on a Dylan Thomas screenplay, this lavishly mounted period piece examines how respectable ambition can quietly make monsters of everyone it touches.
