The premise
A precocious girl, her nasty parents, two punk-rock losers and a weak-kneed salesman inadvertently become the guests of two ghoulish senior citizens in their dark, haunted mansion.

When a stormy night forces a mismatched group of strangers to seek shelter in an old mansion, they discover their eccentric elderly hosts have a very unusual passion: an enormous collection of dolls that seem far too lifelike for comfort. Stuart Gordon's 1987 cult classic blends fairy-tale menace with genuine horror, ensuring the toys are never just decorative. The divide between the innocent and the cruel proves to matter a great deal in this house — though exactly why is best discovered firsthand.
