The premise
A young girl sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own.

When young Sally is uprooted to live with her father and his girlfriend in a sprawling, centuries-old Rhode Island estate undergoing renovation, she stumbles upon something sinister lurking in its depths. Small, whispering creatures hidden within the shadows of the mansion fix their hungry attention squarely on her — and the adults around her are dangerously slow to believe her warnings. Produced by Guillermo del Toro, the film wraps its creature-feature menace in the lush, decaying atmosphere of a Gothic manor where every dark corner feels alive. Sally's terror becomes a desperate fight to be heard before it's too late.
