The premise

A violent fugitive on the run from the law makes his way from Hong Kong to South Africa, where he discovers that he's immune to the Ebola virus, and later returns home to spread the deadly disease.

Horror Vault's take

One of Category III Hong Kong cinema's most notorious entries, Ebola Syndrome follows a vicious criminal who flees to South Africa after a brutal incident, only to stumble into a deadly biological nightmare. His complete disregard for human life and a fateful discovery set the stage for a harrowing chain of events that brings catastrophe back to Hong Kong. Anthony Wong delivers a fearlessly unhinged performance that anchors this aggressively uncomfortable film. Equal parts pitch-black comedy and stomach-churning horror, it pushes exploitation cinema to its absolute limits.
