The premise

Just when you thought it was safe to sleep, Freddy Krueger returns in this sixth installment of the Nightmare on Elm Street films, as psychologist Maggie Burroughs, tormented by recurring nightmares, meets a patient with the same horrific dreams. Their quest for answers leads to a certain house on Elm Street -- where the nightmares become reality.

Horror Vault's take

The sixth entry in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise follows Maggie Burroughs, a psychologist whose patients are plagued by the same terrifying dreams that haunt her own nights. Her investigation draws her back to a familiar suburban address where the line between nightmare and waking life begins to dissolve. Freddy Krueger has never been more theatrical — or more dangerous — as long-buried origins and dark revelations threaten everyone in his path. Equal parts horror spectacle and dark comedy, this finale swings for the fences with a bigger, bolder, stranger vision of Elm Street.
