Freeway Killer2009
“Based on the true story of William Bonin, California's most notorious serial murderer.”
Directed by John Murlowski
The premise
For years he terrorized California motorists as he rode the endless highways searching for his next victim. The discarded bodies turned up beaten, sexually assaulted and horribly mutilated. Deceptively charming and intelligent, the scheming murderer easily avoided police at first. But as police closed in and the killer’s pattern grew more erratic, the only question was how many more will die?
Horror Vault's take
Based on the real-life crimes that gripped California, Freeway Killer follows a charming and calculating serial predator who stalked the state's highways in search of vulnerable victims. The film unfolds in a chilling portrait of a killer who used his disarming intelligence to stay one step ahead of investigators for far too long. As the body count mounts and the murderer's behavior grows increasingly volatile, the net slowly begins to close — but at a devastating cost. It is a raw, unflinching look at one of America's most disturbing criminal cases.
