The premise
Frustrated by scrolling dating apps only to end up on lame, tedious dates, Noa takes a chance by giving her number to the awkwardly charming Steve after a produce-section meet-cute at the grocery store.

Fed up with the hollow rituals of app dating, Noa thinks she's finally stumbled onto something real when a disarming stranger catches her eye in a grocery store. What begins as a refreshingly spontaneous romance quickly reveals itself to be something far more sinister than a bad date. Director Mimi Cave's debut feature uses the language of romantic comedy as a Trojan horse, luring viewers into deeply uncomfortable territory. Equal parts darkly funny and genuinely horrifying, Fresh is a visceral commentary on how women navigate a world that sees them as consumable.
