The premise
A teen and her mother live simply in a home in the woods, spending their time making rock music. A chance encounter with a fellow teen causes her to uncover a connection between her family and witchcraft, which causes a rift with her mother.

Deep in the wilderness, a teenage girl and her reclusive mother have built a quiet life around music and each other — but a single unexpected encounter with the outside world begins to fracture everything. As the girl starts pulling at threads she was never meant to touch, a dark and ancient truth about her bloodline surfaces. Hellbender is a slow-burn folk horror that treats witchcraft not as spectacle but as something disturbingly personal and inherited. The remote setting and raw, DIY aesthetic give it an unsettling intimacy that lingers long after the credits roll.
