Set against the sun-bleached suburbs of 1980s Perth, Hounds of Love traps the viewer inside a nightmare when a teenage girl is snatched off the street by an outwardly ordinary couple with deeply sinister secrets. The film is less interested in shock value than in the suffocating psychology of predator relationships — how power, fear, and dependency intertwine behind closed doors. Vicki must think clearly under extreme duress, reading her captors with a precision that becomes her only possible lifeline. It is a relentlessly taut ordeal that lingers long after the credits roll.
