In a remote Spanish mansion, a former Nazi doctor condemned to life inside an iron lung finds his fragile existence upended when a mysterious young man arrives to serve as his caretaker. The newcomer seems to know far more about the doctor's wartime atrocities than any stranger should, and an unbearable tension takes root beneath the surface of their daily routine. Spanish director Agustí Villaronga crafts a deeply unsettling psychological ordeal that forces both characters — and the audience — to confront the legacy of monstrous acts. Few horror films are this deliberately paced, this suffocating, or this difficult to shake.
