The premise
When elementary school teacher Kobayashi investigates the absence of one of his young pupils from the classroom, he finds himself at the doorstep of an anonymous suburban house that harbours a horrible secret, and into which all who enter are doomed.

When a schoolteacher goes looking for a missing pupil, his visit to an ordinary suburban home pulls him into something far darker than a simple welfare check. The house holds a malevolent force born of violent anguish — one that does not stay contained within its walls. This low-budget Japanese horror production introduced the world to the suffocating, relentless dread of the Ju-on curse, laying the groundwork for one of Asia's most iconic horror franchises.
