The premise

A detective investigates a series of murders. A possible serial killer might be on a rampage, since the crimes are in the same vicinity, by the same method. However, as evidence points towards the detective, a ghost in red follows him, and he begins questioning his identity. His realization of what seems to be reality results in something far larger and more sinister.

Horror Vault's take

When a Tokyo detective is pulled into a baffling string of drowning murders, the investigation quickly turns inward as the evidence begins implicating the investigator himself. A spectral woman in red shadows his every move, blurring the boundary between guilt, memory, and something far more malevolent. Director Kiyoshi Kurosawa crafts a slow-burn descent into dread where the psychological and the supernatural are impossible to untangle. What begins as a procedural gradually reveals a darkness that stretches well beyond any single killer.
