The premise
When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers.

When a bickering extended family descends on the house for the holidays, a young boy's shattered faith in Christmas inadvertently summons something far worse than coal in the stocking. Rooted in Alpine folklore, Krampus arrives as a terrifying antithesis to Santa — bringing with him a menagerie of twisted helpers and a blizzard that cuts the family off from the outside world. Director Michael Dougherty blends genuine creature-feature menace with a wickedly dark comedic sensibility, making this a holiday horror film that earns its scares without losing its sense of fun.
