The premise
Happy go-lucky teen Billy Duncan discovers an otherworldly laser gun in the southern California desert, making him the target of a pair of aliens who had recently executed its previous owner.
Horror Vault's take
When a lonely California teenager stumbles upon a strange weapon abandoned in the desert, he quickly discovers that possessing it comes with a horrifying price. The alien device begins to exert a dark influence over him, and the extraterrestrial beings who want it back are already closing in. Equal parts low-budget sci-fi and body horror, Laserblast is a late-70s cult oddity that trades on creeping dread and practical creature effects. It's rough around the edges, but delivers a memorably unsettling portrait of a young man losing himself to something far beyond human understanding.
