The premise
Twenty-three years after her hooker mother tried to kill her in the womb Helen remains damaged psychological goods. A mindset that gets worse when she suffers a traumatic head injury in an accident. Awakening in hospital, it’s discovered Helen has a tumour growth in her brain causing her to experience dark visions, disembodied voices and the omnipresence of a strange young woman. Soon, lost in a walking nightmare, in which nothing is what it seems, and her vicious actions barely remembered, it becomes crystal clear that whatever is inside her cracked psyche will stop at nothing to get out.
Horror Vault's take
Helen has carried psychological scars since before she was born, but a severe accident cracks something open that can no longer be ignored. A disturbing growth in her brain brings with it blackouts, haunting visions, and the relentless presence of a mysterious woman who seems to know her better than she knows herself. As the episodes grow more violent and her grip on reality slips, the line between illness and something far more sinister begins to dissolve. This Canadian indie horror crawls under your skin with a deeply personal brand of dread rooted in the horror of one's own mind and body.
