The premise
A middle-aged woman, traumatized from the death of her adulterous lover, moves into a room at a New Orleans boarding house where the blind landlord becomes suspicious to her activities of continuing her affair with her dead lover.

In the sultry shadows of New Orleans, a woman consumed by trauma retreats to a boarding house where her mourning takes a deeply unnatural turn. Director Lamberto Bava's feature debut is a slow, suffocating study in erotic obsession that refuses to let the dead stay buried. The blind landlord senses something profoundly wrong behind his tenant's closed door, and his growing dread mirrors the audience's own creeping unease. Equal parts psychological portrait and Gothic nightmare, it lingers long after the credits roll.
