The premise
At an elite New England university built on the site of a Salem-era gallows hill, two black women strive to find their place. Navigating politics and privilege, they encounter increasingly terrifying manifestations of the school's haunted past… and present.

Set against the manicured lawns and colonial architecture of a prestigious New England university, Master follows two Black women — a newly appointed house master and an ambitious freshman — as they struggle to carve out space in an institution that has never truly welcomed them. Strange, disturbing occurrences begin to blur the line between the school's buried history and their lived present. The film layers social horror onto supernatural dread, forcing its characters — and the audience — to question what is haunting whom. It is a measured, suffocating portrait of belonging denied.
