When a pleasure yacht is wrecked near a remote equatorial island, its seven survivors must eke out an existence on land that offers precious little to eat — and far too much to fear. Tensions over dwindling rations crack the group apart long before the island's true secret reveals itself. Director Ishirō Honda crafts a slow-burn descent in which the greatest monsters may not be the ones lurking in the undergrowth. What begins as a castaway survival story quietly mutates into something deeply strange and deeply human.
