The premise
A mermaid is ripped from the ocean by a fishing crew only to be tortured and to have her tail cut off. A seemingly helpful stranger intervenes, but then locks her away in an institution for mentally disturbed young women, where no one believes she is a mermaid. With no way out, she is forced to count on her survival instincts, and fight for her life at all costs.

A creature of the deep finds herself trapped far from her ocean home, subjected to cruelty and then confined within the cold walls of a psychiatric institution where her very nature is dismissed as delusion. Surrounded by disbelieving staff and fellow patients, she must navigate a world that refuses to see her for what she truly is. What follows is a dark, intimate struggle for survival in which the line between monster and victim is deliberately blurred. Fans of slow-burn, character-driven horror will find this one lingers long after the credits roll.
