When two people find themselves in a car after dark, their private conversation about death draws the attention of something that should not be listening. What begins as an intimate, confined exchange slowly becomes a nightmare as a presence outside refuses to stay hidden. The film weaponises the uncanny valley — the almost-right, the nearly-human — to burrow under the skin. Small in scale but large in dread, Mimic makes the darkness just beyond the window feel genuinely alive.
