The premise

Fleeing a dangerous past, a mother and her young son seek refuge in a quiet, picture-perfect retreat far from the reach of her abusive ex — only to discover the remote property harbours a sinister aquatic presence that may be far worse than anything they left behind. Set against a meticulously crafted 1950s backdrop, the film layers domestic dread with creeping supernatural menace. Christina Ricci anchors the story with a restrained, emotionally charged performance as a woman caught between the trauma she's running from and the terror closing in around her. What begins as a portrait of survival slowly peels back to reveal something far more haunting.
