When a long-awaited comet passes over Earth, nearly everyone wakes up to find civilization has been reduced to rust-colored dust — and those who weren't so lucky wander the empty streets with very bad intentions. Two resourceful Valley Girl sisters emerge as unlikely heroes in a sun-bleached, deserted Los Angeles, navigating a world that's equal parts terrifying and absurdly theirs for the taking. But roving dangers aren't the only threat: a shadowy group of scientists has its own unsettling agenda for the handful of survivors. Part teen comedy, part end-of-the-world nightmare, this 1984 cult gem delivers laughs and chills in equal measure.
