A young woman who has crossed borders in pursuit of a better life finds that her only affordable shelter — a crumbling boarding house — harbors something deeply, inexplicably wrong. As strange visions and sinister forces close in around her, her desperation to survive becomes as much a threat as the darkness lurking within the walls. The film uses its haunted-house framework to probe the very real fears of those who exist on society's margins, powerless and unseen. What begins as social realism gradually curdles into something far older and more terrifying.
