The premise
Detective Chief Superintendent Maurice Jobson is forced to remember the very similar disappearance of Clare Kemplay, who was found dead in 1974, and the subsequent imprisonment of local boy Michael Myshkin. Washed-up local solicitor John Piggott becomes convinced of Myshkin's innocence and begins to fight on his behalf, unwittingly providing a catalyst for Jobson to start to right some wrongs.
Horror Vault's take
The final chapter of the Red Riding trilogy plunges back into the corrupt heart of Yorkshire, where a veteran detective can no longer outrun the ghosts of a decades-old child murder. A down-at-heel solicitor's dogged pursuit of justice for a wrongly convicted man begins to crack open secrets that powerful people have buried deep. Set against the grim backdrop of 1980s Northern England, the film builds to a suffocating confrontation between institutional rot and individual conscience. Dark, measured, and unrelenting, it delivers a bleak payoff to one of British crime drama's most ambitious sagas.
