The premise

Lothar Schramm is a simple man with complex problems, yet he seems like such a nice guy. He works as a taxi driver and lives by himself where he is happy to answer his door to strangers and kill them outright. As with many shy loner types he has a problem dealing with women so he drugs them and photographs their nude bodies for sexual stimulation. He then murders his helpless victims and so goes the life of a deranged serial killer.

Horror Vault's take

Lothar Schramm is an unremarkable taxi driver on the outside — quietly neighbourly, seemingly harmless — yet behind closed doors his inner world is one of profound dysfunction and lethal compulsion. Director Jörg Buttgereit peels back the mundane surface of a serial killer's existence, offering a deeply unsettling portrait of a man whose violence and sexual pathology are inseparable. Shot with an almost clinical intimacy, the film refuses conventional thriller plotting in favour of raw, fragmented dread. It is less a murder story than a descent into the psychological wreckage that makes such a man possible.
