The premise
Ebenezer Scrooge, the ultimate Victorian miser, hasn't a good word for Christmas, though his impoverished clerk Cratchit and nephew Fred are full of holiday spirit. In the night, Scrooge is visited by spirits of the past, present, and future.
Horror Vault's take
In the gaslit streets and shadowed counting houses of Victorian London, the cold-hearted miser Ebenezer Scrooge finds his miserable Christmas Eve interrupted by forces beyond the living. Spectral visitors drag him through visions of his own life — past, present, and the terrifying shape of things to come. This early British adaptation leans into the genuinely ghostly and gothic dimensions of Dickens's tale, making it less festive fable and more spine-chilling night of reckoning. Whether Scrooge survives the experience with his soul intact is a question the spirits press with grim determination.
