The premise
Detective Cho, a cop on the edge, is mourning his mother's recent death while under investigation for graft; on top of that he is suddenly put in charge of a seemingly-impenetrable mystery.

A troubled Seoul detective — already drowning in personal grief and a corruption probe — finds himself thrust into one of the most disturbing cases of his career: a series of discoveries involving dismembered body parts that refuse to add up. As Detective Cho digs deeper, the investigation pulls him into a labyrinth of interconnected secrets where nothing and no one can be taken at face value. This late-90s Korean thriller trades in slow-burn dread and visceral unease, stacking puzzle piece upon puzzle piece until the picture becomes almost unbearable to look at.
