The premise
Still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, a teenage girl and her younger sister find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.
Horror Vault's take
Two sisters are still raw with grief after losing their mother when something ancient and malevolent begins stalking the shadows of their home. The creature seems drawn to their pain, preying on vulnerability while their emotionally absent father remains blind to the mounting danger. Based on a Stephen King short story, the film builds its scares on a foundation of real emotional weight rather than cheap thrills alone. The younger sister in particular faces something deeply primal — the fear that the monster in the dark is very, very real.
