Two small-town graduates hit the road to Los Angeles for one last taste of freedom before the responsibilities of adulthood close in — but the trip quickly curdles into something far darker. What begins as restless energy and petty aggression spirals into a brutal killing spree that neither of them seems able or willing to stop. Director Penelope Spheeris strips away any glamour, delivering a cold, uncomfortable portrait of violence with no easy explanations. This is not a film that lets its audience off the hook.
