Deep in the Australian outback, the sleepy town of Paris has a sinister secret keeping its economy alive — one that spells catastrophe for any traveller unlucky enough to pass through. A young man who narrowly survives a roadside disaster soon finds that escaping this seemingly ordinary community may be far harder than it looks. Director Peter Weir's debut feature blends deadpan dark comedy with genuine menace, painting a portrait of rural conformity with a very sharp edge.
