The premise
After a tragic event happens, composer John Russell moves to Seattle to try to overcome it and build a new and peaceful life in a lonely big house that has been uninhabited for many years. But, soon after, the obscure history of such an old mansion and his own past begin to haunt him.
Horror Vault's take
Haunted by personal tragedy, a grieving music professor retreats to a grand, long-vacant Seattle mansion seeking solitude — and finds something far older and angrier waiting inside. Strange occurrences escalate from unnerving to genuinely terrifying as the house begins to reveal a buried history it refuses to keep quiet. George C. Scott anchors the film with a restrained, deeply human performance that grounds the supernatural dread in real emotional pain. What unfolds is as much a mystery as a ghost story, threading a dark thread of conspiracy through its chilling haunting.
