The premise
After nearly drowning in a lake, a young girl develops an abnormal fear of water and is plagued by visions of a mysterious dark figure. A year later, in an attempt to cure her phobia and visions, her skeptical friends stage a séance and subject her to a bathtub experiment, unwittingly summoning the dark figure into the world.
Horror Vault's take
A near-drowning leaves one young woman shattered by a consuming fear of water and haunted by glimpses of a sinister figure lurking just beyond the surface. When her well-meaning friends attempt an improvised séance to rid her of the torment, they inadvertently tear open a door that should have stayed shut. What follows is a damp, suffocating descent as the malevolent entity begins hunting them one by one. The Drownsman takes a primal, everyday fear and gives it a monstrous face.
