Set against the sprawling cornfields of rural America, The Fields follows a young boy sent to stay with his grandparents while darkness — both human and perhaps something more — closes in around him. Drawing from semi-autobiographical roots, the film evokes the creeping dread of a childhood summer gone terribly wrong. An unseen menace haunts the family, blurring the line between real-world danger and something far harder to explain. The result is a slow-burn portrait of fear filtered through the innocent eyes of a child.
