The House of Seven Corpses1974
Directed by Paul Harrison
The premise
A director is filming on location in a house where seven murders were committed. The caretaker warns them not to mess with things they do not understand (the murders were occult related), but the director wants to be as authentic as possible and has his cast re-enact rituals that took place in the house thus summoning a ghoul from the nearby cemetery to bump the whole film crew off one by one.
Horror Vault's take
A Hollywood crew descends on a notorious mansion to shoot a horror film, only to find that the house's bloody occult history is far more than mere backstory. Ignoring the ominous warnings of the estate's weathered caretaker, the director insists on recreating the dark rituals that once stained these walls — a decision that proves catastrophically unwise. Something ancient and hungry stirs in the cemetery next door, and the production schedule is about to be permanently derailed. This low-budget 1974 chiller leans on atmosphere and dread over spectacle, with familiar genre faces lending it a worn, authentic charm.
