The premise

Ichabod Crane, a Yankee wanderer, arrives in Sleepy Hollow and becomes the new schoolmaster. He meets Katrina Van Tassel, and blissfully fantasizes about how can marry her, ultimately, inherit her father's rich estate. Her suitor Brom Bones, the blacksmith, wants to scare him away and dresses up as the legendary Headless Horseman. During the prank, the real ghost appears and drives Ichabod off

When an opportunistic Yankee schoolmaster named Ichabod Crane settles in the sleepy Hudson Valley village of Sleepy Hollow, he sets his sights on the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel — and the considerable fortune that comes with her. Standing in his way is the brutish local blacksmith Brom Bones, who has his own designs on Katrina and little patience for rivals. But the fog-shrouded hollow holds older, darker secrets than either man bargains for, and the legend of the Headless Horseman is not so easily dismissed. This TV adaptation of Washington Irving's beloved American folk tale leans into the ghost story's gothic atmosphere and rustic New England charm.
